White Cargo Cocktail

Why you will love this cocktail

Another delicious dessert substitute, this grown-up sundae-milkshake hybrid, was invented by Harry Craddock, English bartender extraordinaire at The Savoy Hotel in the 1930s. Originally a simple three-ingredient drink featuring vanilla ice cream, gin, and a splash of dry white wine, modern versions now also include Chardonnay for an extra kick of flavour. Give this vintage cocktail a whirl this Easter and impress your friends with your old-school mixology skills.

Mixed Berry Sangria

Why you will love this cocktail

If you’re entertaining a large group, our Mixed Berry Sangria is a fantastic, crowd-pleasing cocktail as it can be made in a large pitcher or punch bowl ahead of time, and it's easy for your guests to serve themselves.

Given Sangria's Spanish roots, we recommend using Tempranillo for the red wine base. If you prefer a non-alcoholic option, simply swap the wine for Tempus Two Zero Red Blend (minus the brandy). And for a lighter take on the classic, try using Tempus Two Lighten Up Shiraz, so your guests can savour the moment a little longer.

Ingredients

Serves 6

  • 750ml Tempus Two Varietal Tempranillo
  • 250ml brandy (optional)
  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 1 cup strawberries hulled
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 3 cups apple juice
  • 2 cups sparkling or soda water
  • Crushed ice
  • Extra strawberries for garnish

How to make a Mixed Berry Sangria

  • In a large pitcher, add the red wine, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, brandy (if using), and apple juice. Stir until mixed.
  • Chill for at least 4 hours.
  • Add the sparkling water to the pitcher and stir.
  • Ladle the Sangria into punch glasses or small tumblers filled with ice to serve.
